Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kshetram located in Banjara Hills
Surprising to many, there is a Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kshetram located in Banjara Hills, Road #12. This is an ancient Kshetram housing self-manifest Deities (Swayambhu) of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha & Lord Shiva. But for the last few years the regular Pujas & naivedyas have began by the initiative of Yadagiri Gutta temple. Recently Govt of AP has invited ISKCON, Bangalore to restore & develop this Kshetram.
This temple houses a swayambhu (self manifest) Deity of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy & a Deity of Lord Shiva known as panchajanya ishwara. The uniqueness of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha is that they are giving darshan in a standing posture. Hare Krishna Movement-Hyderabad (ISKCON Bangalore associated Trust) is currently taking care of the worship, renovation & development. The hillock has a wonderful environment and one can enjoy the Vaikuntha atmosphere particularly in the evenings.
The Endowments Department of Andhra Pradesh has allotted Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple situated on Road No.12, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, to the Hare Krishna Movement – Hyderabad (HKMHYD), for renovation and developmental works.
The presiding Deity, Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, is a swayambhu (self manifested) Deity on a huge boulder. The Lord’s temple is one of the city’s most ancient. The allotted land is about 5 acres, out of which half is a hillock on which there is currently a small temple that houses the Deity.
Project Highlights:
1. PHASE I: Renovation and restoration of the existing Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple. Another large Deity of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, about 5 to 6 feet tall will also be installed. There will also be a small themed exhibit depicting
the glorious pastime of Lord Narasimha and Bhakta Prahlada.
2. PHASE II: A temple of Lord Srinivasa Govinda (Lord Balaji) will be erected in the same complex, adjacent to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami temple.
3. PHASE III: A temple of Sri Radha Krishna-chandra will be erected in the same complex, behind Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami temple.
4. During the course of construction at all phases, amenities will also come up, to facilitate the celebration of various festivals, programmes and events.
Up-coming festivals:
HKM-HYD is planning a grand celebration for Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi. Preceding this will be the Chandan Yatra, when the Deity of Lord Narasimha will be adorned in sandalwood pulp. All devotees are requested to participate in the festivals along with their family members and take the blessings of the Lord.
The following events are planned for the Lord on Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi:
Early morning abhisheka for the swayambhu Deity, followed by Kalyanotsava before noon. The day will conclude with an elaborate spectacular abhisheka to the utsava vigraha.
